LKQ, the bodyshop industry’s only complete service provider, has launched an industry-leading intelligent repair proposition designed to help bodyshops open new revenue streams and offer alternative repair solutions to customers.
With up to 70% of all cars on the road having some kind of cosmetic damage, coupled with rising insurance premiums and excesses, intelligent repair is a smart investment for bodyshops looking to increase volumes and complete smaller repairs efficiently.
The ambition is to help bodyshops offer customers quality and cost-effective alternatives to traditional replacement parts – all while reducing key-to-key times, maximising throughput and boosting profits.
A brand new, eight-page prospectus from LKQ outlines the two easy steps, training and products, that bodyshops need to get started on their intelligent repair journey – covering everything from dents and scuffs, glass chips and cracks, interior fabrics, plastic damage and alloys.
The product portfolio includes a series of new LKQ Intelligent Repair Kits, introduced as a one stop solution for essential products and equipment, and include the Professional PDR Kit, Chip Surgeon Stone Chip Repair Kit, Optima Interior / Plastic Repair Kit, and Pro X Smart Repair Kit for sanding and polishing.
Training focusses on techniques that can shorten repair times and increase workflow, while preventing damage from spreading and reducing waste. Courses are available at the new LKQ Academy site in Tamworth – which features its own dedicated intelligent repair room – or bodyshops can opt for bespoke, on-site training, starting from £399 per day.
Jason Luter, intelligent repair training manager at LKQ, said: “We’re committed to helping our customers remain competitive and achieve sustainable growth. Intelligent repair is particularly important with people holding on to their cars for longer and opting for out-of-pocket repairs because of increasing insurance premiums and higher excesses. Intelligent repairs cost between £60 to £220 on average – compared to the average vehicle excess of between £250 and £750 – and they ensure drives don’t lose their no claims bonus.
“Helping our bodyshop customers to guarantee quality, lower cost repairs, as well as offering traditional replacement parts, is key. And intelligent repair brings sustainability benefits, minimising the carbon emissions associated with the manufacturing and delivery of new parts as well as reducing the number of used parts sent to landfill.
“This is just one example of how we’re leveraging our brilliance and difference, helping bodyshops of all sizes to open new revenue streams and meet market demand.”
