Rachel Taylor MP recently visited the facilities of LKQ UK & Ireland, the nation's leading automotive parts distributor, to discuss the future of logistics operations and equality in the automotive aftermarket sector.

The meeting also addressed the important topic of equality and representation in the automotive aftermarket. LKQ highlighted its active participation in the Automotive 30% Club, an industry-wide commitment to having at least 30% of key leadership positions occupied by women by 2030. The company's internal PAVE network of ambassadors works to explore cultural challenges and champion diversity across the organisation, providing peer support, mentorship, and training.

Rachel Taylor MP commented: "It's encouraging to see LKQ taking meaningful steps toward both operational excellence and workplace diversity. The automotive aftermarket sector plays a crucial role in our economy, and companies like LKQ are demonstrating how innovation in logistics can go hand-in-hand with progressive workplace practices."

During the visit, Taylor was also briefed on LKQ's humanitarian efforts for Ukraine. This July, she will personally drive an ambulance to Ukraine that was procured through LKQ's fundraising initiatives. This continues the company's substantial relief efforts coordinated by LKQ Demand Planner Dawid Kozlowski, which have already delivered more than 200 tonnes of aid, including 34 ambulances and over £6,000 worth of prescription medicine since the war began in 2022.

As a significant employer in the region, LKQ also shared details of its talent development initiatives. These include a network of Future Talent Ambassadors engaging with educational institutions; an expanded Internship Programme now covering Communications and Logistics; a newly launched Finance Graduate Scheme; annual "School Safari" events introducing students to automotive industry careers; and educational sponsorships, including support for Nescott College's Motorsport Department.

Through its LKQ Digraph division, the company serves as the UK's largest independent parts distributor to the commercial vehicle aftermarket, contributing significantly to the growth of a sector that underpins the UK's logistics infrastructure.
